Emathis gombak sp. nov.

Type material. Holotype: male, MALAYSIA: SELANGOR: Ulu Gombak Field Station, 3.325° N, 101.753° E, elev. 250 m, 16–19 May 2005, coll. W. Maddison, D. Li, I. Agnarsson, J. Zhang, WPM#05–026 (UBC-SEM AR00171). Paratype: female, same data as holotype (UBC-SEM AR00172).

Etymology. The species’ name is a noun in apposition referring to the type locality.

Diagnosis. Similar in body form and cheliceral teeth pattern to other described Emathis species. Females could be recognized by the short and not strongly convoluted copulatory duct ( Fig. 18 ). Males have short embolus, similar to those of E. coprea (Thorell) (see Prószyński 1984), but can be readily distinguished by the narrower palpal bulb and the much narrower embolus ( Fig. 15 ).

Description. Male (holotype, UBC-SEM AR00171). Carapace length 2.7; abdomen length 2.7. Chelicera ( Fig. 16 ): dark yellow brown; with two promarginal teeth and one retromarginal tooth of five cusps. Palp ( Fig. 15 ): yellow brown. Embolus relatively short and coiled for about half a circle; retrolateral tibial apophysis long and finger-like. First tibia with three pairs of ventral macrosetae; first metatarsus with four pairs of ventral macrosetae. Measurements of legs: I 8.2, II 5.6, III 6.6, IV 5.3. Color in alcohol ( Fig. 13 ): carapace orange in eye area and yellowish brown behind fovea, posterior part dark yellow brown; abdomen sandy yellow, with indistinct grayish brown markings; first two pairs of legs yellow brown, last two pairs of legs light yellow to yellow brown.

Female (paratype, UBC-SEM AR00172). Carapace length 2.3; abdomen length 2.3. Chelicera: with three promarginal teeth and one retromarginal tooth of five cusps. First tibia with three pairs of ventral macrosetae; first metatarsus with four pairs of ventral macrosetae. Measurements of legs: I 4.9, II 4.3, III 5.3, IV 4.5. Epigynum ( Fig. 17 ): window at anterior part of epigynal plate; median septum absent; opening to copulatory duct at posterior end of window. Vulva ( Fig. 18 ): copulatory duct short and not convoluted; spermatheca almost spherical. Color in alcohol ( Fig. 14 ): similar to that of male except legs paler in color.
