Pristomerus kakaduensis n. sp.

Etymology. This name refers to the collection locality of the holotype, in Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territories.

Description. Fore wing length 4.9–5.6 mm (holotype: 5.0 mm). Antenna with 33–35 (33) flagellomeres. Mesoscutum with more or less even, dense punctuation. Scutellum without punctures, all smooth and shining. Mesopleuron with strong and rather dense punctures, smooth in-between; below subtegular ridge with parallel, diagonal carinulae. Metapleuron with juxacoxal carina very weakly indicated by some rugae. Propodeal areas smooth with strong punctures and some rugae. Hind coxa coriaceous and matt, with weak punctures. Hind femur length to width ratio 3.45 in male and 3.6–3.8 in female, ventrally with a medium sized tooth almost as long as width of hind tibia at mid length. Hind tibia 1.85–2.1 (1.85) mm. Second tergite 2.3–2.4 (2.3) × longer than wide at base, covered with longitudinal carinulae. Ovipositor 1.6 × as long as hind tibia.

Colouration. Antenna basally orange, remainder brown or black. Head orange, lighter on malar space and apex of clypeus. Mesosoma including propodeum orange. Hind femur orange, with apex yellow. Hind tibia orange with apex darkened. Fore wing hyaline with a dark apex. Tergites orange, often with light apical bands or medial dark markings, especially in the male.

Material examined. Holotype ♀: Label data: ' NT Kakadu N.P.; Baroalba Springs; 12°48 S 132°49' E; 14 nov 1991 UU; Wells' / ' NORTHERN TERRITORY; MUSEUM SPECIMEN'; at MAGNT.

Paratypes: NT—Gunn Point, Site N °. 10; 1.ix.1977, leg. T.Angeles; 1 Ƌ, at QDPC. NT—Lichfield National Park , Florence Falls ; 6.vi.1991, leg. Wells, Webber; 1 ♀, at MAGNT.
