This species is typical of the central and northern regions of the Iberian Peninsula. It is a mainly forest species (pine and oak forests) that has also been found in several caves in Navarra ( Beruete 2000a, Beruete et al. 2002). In the Sumidero de Espinal this species has been found on plant remains and in cheese baits; in Kurriamuro on plant remains; in Burkarrutz I on a mouse corpse, on cheese baits and in puddles; in Burkarrutz II on sheep droppings and on the bottom of a dry gour; in Arantzaduia II on the surface of puddles.
