This small fossorial species was collected with Z. quadrifrons in Baikiaea woodland at the airstrip. Known from Zambia, Angola, and northern Namibia, with most Zambian specimens collected at Kalabo, the type locality, with a subsequent record from Ndau School (ca. 25 km south-west of Mongu on the western side of the Zambezi River; Broadley 2000a). The new record partially fills the gap between the Ndau School, eastern Angola and Namibia records .
