Reversal of Precedence (Article 23.9) is used to conserve usage of Acanthinodera Hope, 1834 nomen protectum over Amallopodes Lequien, 1833 nomen oblitum.

The genus-group name Amallopodes has not been used as valid name for a particular taxon after 1899 and Acanthinodera has been used as the valid name in the following 25 publications, published by at least ten authors in the immediately preceding 50 years and encompassing a span of not less than ten years: Cekalovic (1967), Angulo (1974), Cerda (1974, 1986), Angulo & Weigert (1974), Artigas (1975),Barriga, et al. (1993), Monné & Giesbert (1994, 1995), Bleuzen (1994), Monné (1995b, 2002, 2004, 2006), Arias (2000), Jenis (2001, 2008), Elgueta & Cerda (2002), Monné & Hovore (2005, 2006), Vergara et al. (2006), Vitali (2007), Monné & Bezark, (2009), Bousquet et al. (2009), Bouchard et al., (2011). Consequently in accordance with Article 23.9, Amallopodes Lequien, 1833 is a nomen oblitum and Acanthinodera Hope, 1834 , a nomen protectum.
