Psilotum nudum View in CoL (L.) P.Beauv., Prodr. Aethéogam. 106. 1805.

Range:— Antilles; southern USA to Bolivia (BE, LP, SC), Paraguay and northeastern Argentina; Old World tropics.

Ecology:— Uncommon; pendent or erect epiphyte, less commonly terrestrial and on fallen trunks, often in leaf axils of palms; to 800 m. In regions with active volcanoes, it is one of the first colonizers of recent lava flows ( Kessler et al. 2010).

Notes:— Psilotum complanatum Sw. from Mexico to Peru (and Southeast Asia to the Pacific islands) may occur in

Bolivia. It has flattened stems> 2 mm (vs. <1.5 mm) wide, with a 2-edged cross-section (vs. 3-edged to rounded in P. nudum ).
