Idiozetes Aoki, 1976 , p. 51.
Type-species: Idiozetes erectus Aoki, 1976 .
Diagnosis. Cerotegument thick, amorphous or reticulate. Lamellae broad basally, narrowing and separated apically, elongate, curved ventrally. Bothridial seta with long stalk and short, club-shaped head. Bothridium small, cup-shaped. Notogaster strongly convex, with longitudinal medial ridge; notogaster narrowing anteriorly, waisted in region of pteromorphs. Dorsosejugal lobes prominent, paddle-shaped, constricted basally. Pteromorphae pointed, long, thin, strongly curved apically. Lenticulus strongly protuberant, on conical projection, positioned anteriorly at same level as bothridia or just posterior. With ten or fewer pairs of notogastral setae, three or four pairs of sacculi. Epimeral setal formulae 3-1-2-3, 2-1-2-2 or 2-1-2-1. Pedotecta large, projecting laterally. Aggenital setae absent. Six (occasionally, possibly seven) pairs of genital setae present, one or two pairs of anal setae; adanal setae all positioned posterior of anal plates. Legs monodactylous or heterotridactylous. Solenidion σ on genu I elongated but not flagelliform.
Remarks. Fernandez et al. (2010) give a comparison of the three species of Idiozetes described hitherto, as well as refining the generic definition of Aoki (1976). The above definition is broadened to account for different character states in Idiozetes hagenensis sp. nov., including the epimeral setation and two pairs of anal setae.
