Problepsis discophora kardakoffi Prout, 1938 , in Seitz, Macrolepid. World, 4 (Suppl.): 222. Holotype ♂, Russia: S Ussuri, Vladivostok district,?Okeanskaja (NHM).
Diagnosis. The subspecies differs from the nominate subspecies externally by the following characters: the submarginal spots of both wings are larger and darker, inner ones are fused or touch to outer ones partly, and outer ones are fused to the terminal lines except on the apical area of the forewing, while the submarginal spots of the nominate subspecies are lighter, inner ones are separate from outer ones; the fringes are mostly dark grey to blackish grey, but they are white mixed with grey in the nominate subspecies. The subspecies is almost identical to P. phoebearia Erschov, 1870 in the dentate male antenna, the white vertex and the length of the hind tarsus of the male and the genitalia, and only can be distinguished by the smaller ocellus of each wings. P. phoebearia has larger ocellus, the one of the forewing is fused to the posterior small marking, forms one to three teeth on the inner margin, and protrudes beyond or touch the postmedial line on the outer margin; the one of the hind wing is partly or mostly covered the postmedial line.
