Distribution. China (Heilongjiang, Jilin, Beijing), Southeast Russia, North Korea.
Remarks. In our study, we found the species and P. discophora only show some differences on the shape of ocellus. Besides, we also found one male specimen from Beijing (figs 24, 49, 70) shows a transition between the two species: the ocellus of the forewing is fused to the posterior small marking, smooth on the inner margin, and forms a small protrusion on the outer margin, not reaching the postmedial line; the ocellus of the hind wing is similar to that of P. phoebearia . Therefore we suspect P. phoebearia and P. discophora maybe the same species.
