d’Andretta & Carrera, 1951: 7-9 (original description); 13, figure 1 (antena), figure 2 (posterior leg), figures 3-4 (wing), figure 5 (genitalia in lateral view), figure 6 (aedeagus complex in lateral view), figure 7 (part of 9th tergite in dorsal view), figures 8 (9th tergite and hypopygium in ventral view).

Type locality: Icó, Ceará, Brazil.

Holotype male with labels: (1) printed on red paper: “HOLOTIPO”; (2) handwritten on white paper: “ Ceará | Icó | V. C. Alves | III 39 [1939] [in vertical position]”; (3) printed with handwritten inscriptions on white paper: “ Rhopalia ɗ | mirandai . n. sp. | M. Carrera det & d‘Andretta ”.

Preservation: Pinned; specimen intact with undissected terminalia.

Allotype female with labels: (1) handwritten on white paper: “ Ceará | Limoeiro | V. C. Alves | III. 40 [1940] [in vertical position]”; (2) printed on red paper: “ALOTIPO”; (3) printed with handwritten inscriptions on white paper: “ Rhopalia Ψ | mirandai . n. sp. | d‘Andretta | M. Carrera det. 1948 ”.

Preservation: Pinned; spermathecae mounted on slides; Missing parts: right tibia of leg III and both antennae.

Paratype male with labels: (1) handwritten on white paper: “ Ceará | Icó III 39 [1939] | V. C. Alves | III 39 [1939] [in vertical position]”; (2) printed on red paper: “PARATIPO”; (3) printed on red paper: “111.187”.

Preservation: Pinned; genitalia on plastic vial pinned together with the specimen; Missing parts: both antennae and left wing.
