Order Siphonophorida View in CoL

Here, 1 of the 5 specimens is determined to the wrong order, while the other 4 are in the wrong family. Nevertheless, Zhang’s record confirms our observation that this order is frequently found in Burmese amber.

Siphonorhinidae View in CoL sp. 2” ( Zhang 2017: 167), “ Siphonorhinidae View in CoL sp. 3” ( Zhang 2017: 168), “ Siphonorhinidae View in CoL sp. 4” ( Zhang 2017: 168), “ Siphonorhinidae View in CoL sp. 5” ( Zhang 2017: 169), all = Siphonophoridae View in CoL . All these Siphonophorida View in CoL are members of the family Siphonophoridae View in CoL , which can be easily distinguished from Siphonorhinidae View in CoL (also not uncommon in Burmese amber, see above) based on the shape of the head and antennae characteristics ( Enghoff et al. 2015). Species of Siphonophoridae View in CoL are very difficult to determine to the genus or even species because the taxonomy is chaotic ( Jeekel 2001, Read and Enghoff 2009). Careful descriptions of the tiny gonopods are a necessity in order to not create more chaos.
