Two specimens of H. analis with type labels are in the Fabricius Collection at the NHMD. The specimen with the locality and name label has the abdomen missing; the other specimen is in good condition. Both specimens are the same species. The specimen in good condition is here designated the Lectotype, and the damaged specimen is a Paralectotype. The lectotype has only a green square paper and “TYPE” on red label. The paralectotype has a small piece of green square paper, “TYPE,” “ Essequibo, Schmidt, Mus. Jeg [?} Luna, Hylotoma analis Fabr. ,” “ Stromoceros analis F., Malaise det. 1937.”

Konow described S. brevispinis from both sexes from “Para Teffe, Oyapock, Tabatinga, R. Japura.” He did not designate a holotype and did not state how many specimens he had. One female and seven males labelled type are at SDEI. A male labelled “Oyapock, 6.6.1904, Ducke,” “Coll. Konow,” “TYPE,” “ Stromboceros brevispinis Knw. , Para” is hereby designated the Lectotype. The other specimens are Paralectotypes: two males with same data but without determination labels; one male from “Tabatinga”; two males from “R. Japura,” one male from “ Brasil, Para”; and one female from “Teffe.” All appear to be the same as P. analis . The amount of black on the mesosternum varies from none to almost all black.

Cameron (1911) described Monophadnus trichiotomus from a female from British Guiana. The holotype at BMNH is labelled “ Monophadnus triciotomus Cam. , Type., Br. Guyana,” “647,” “P. Cameron coll., 1914-110,” is in the BMNH. It is not in the type catalog at BMNH.

Forsius (1925) described Romaniola amazonica from a female from “ Manaos .” The holotype at NHRS is labelled “Amazon Roman,” “Manos,” “Nov.” “TYPUS,” “ Romaniola n. g. amazonica n. sp. Typ. F. R. Forsius det.,” “243 75,” “Riksmuseum Stockholm.”
