( Figs 2–7 View FIGURES 2–7 )

Description. Female (Holotype). Length, 2.3 mm. Head and mesosoma largely brown with lateral margins of mesoscutum and axillae paler brown and tegula whitish; antenna dark brown with a rounded area at apex of scape, F1 and base of F2 whitish, pedicel pale brown; legs yellow with hind femur suffused with brown; forewing hyaline, venation ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 2–7 ) pale brown; gaster brown, the first 4 tergites paler brown.

Head on FV between anterior ocellus and top of scrobes appearing smooth with extremely weak sculpture resembling that of mesoscutum; head width about 2.6× frontovertex; ocelli forming an angle of about 90°; lowest margin of antennal torulus below lowest eye margin; antenna ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ) with scape about 3× as long as wide, F1 about as long as pedicel, funicular segments of about the same width and decreasing length toward the apex, F6 about 2× as long as broad. Relative measurements: HW 104, FV 40, POL 16, OOL 4, OCL 6, EL 68, EW 32, MS 20, SL 56, SW 20.

Mesoscutum 0.5× as long as wide and as long as scutellum; forewing 3× as long as broad, postmarginal vein ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 2–7 ) slightly longer than stigmal vein. Relative measurements: FWL 120, FWW 40, PMV 9.5, SV 9.

Metasoma 1.7× as long as head and thorax together; ovipositor slightly exserted, gonostyli distinctly wide about as long as broad. Paratype: hypopygium ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 2–7 ) heart shaped, 1.25× as long as wide; ovipositor ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 2–7 ) about 1/4 as long as mid tibia and 9.5× as long as gonostylus. Relative measurements: OL 105, MT 145, GL 15.

Male. Similar to female but for antenna ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 2–7 ) and genitalia. Scape about 5× as long as broad; pedicel subquadrate, all funicular segments longer than broad, their length decreasing towards apex, F1 6× as long as broad and 3× as long as pedicel, F6 about 4.5× as long as broad; clava about 5× as long as broad and clearly shorter than F5 and F6 together. Scale-like glands ( Guerrieri et al. 2001) ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 2–7 ) only on clava ( Fig. 9–10 View FIGURES 8–12 ). Relative measurements: SL 54, SW 12.

Variation. None in the material at hand.

Hosts. The species was reared from Phenacoccus solenopsis Tinsley ( Hemiptera : Pseudococcidae ) on Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L. ( Malvaceae ).

Distribution. Iran.

Type material. Holotype ♀, Iran, Khuzestan province, Ahwaz, 31°19'N 48°41'E, 10.x.2011, ex Phenacoccus solenopsis Tinsley, 1898 ( Hemiptera : Pseudococcidae ) on Hibiscus rosa-sinensis ( Malvaceae ), M.S. Alizadeh leg. Paratypes 2 f♀, 3 ♂, same data as holotype. Holotype and 3 paratypes deposited at NHM; 2 paratypes will be deposited at DEZA.

Comments. A. osmoi is extremely similar to A. kilinceri Japoshvilii , described from Turkey, with which it shares antennal features, and forewing venation with very long postmarginal vein. The two species can be separated by the sculpture on frontovertex (hardly visible in new species, coriaceous in kilinceri ), relative proportion of head and frontovertex width (2.6× in sp. nov., 2× in kilinceri ), F6 length/width proportion (2× in the new species, 1.5× in kilinceri ); forewing setation (homogeneous on the disc and with pale setae at its apex in the new species, with a group of darker setae beneath marginal vein in kiliceri), colour of mid and hind femura (immaculate and largely brown in new species, both yellow orange in kilinceri ) and colour of mesopleura (largely brown in the new species; yellow in kilinceri ).
