Family Vespertilionidae View in CoL
Pipistrellus kuhlii (Kuhl, 1817)
This species was found to be common all over the Farasan and As Saqid islands. Numerous echolocation calls were recorded from several sites and one individual was photographed in the Coast Guard Station (Khatab, Al Moharak 1, Al Moharak 2 and Al Moharak 3) ( Figs. 3D View Figure 3 and 4C View Figure 4 ). This is the first confirmed record for Kuhl's Pipistrelle in the islands. Starting frequency ranged from 36-40.8 KHz (37.23±1.54), while the end frequency ranged from 28.2-39.2 KHz (32.58±4.19), and maximum energy frequencies ranged from 36.4-38.1 KHz (36.98±0.58). The duration of calls ranged from 1.91- 12ms (5.89±2.44).
