Priotomis golbachi Porter View in CoL

( Figs 3–6 View FIGURES 3 – 6 )

Priotomis golbachi Porter, 1972: 231 View in CoL –235. Description, figure, distribution, key to species. Holotype Ƥ at FIML; Yu & Horstmann, 1997: 284. Listed.

Description. Female. Medium size; fore wing length 0.78 cm.

Head. Apical margin of clypeus straight; occipital carina dorsally absent.

Mesosoma . Densely pilose; hind margin of metanotum without teeth; sternaulus absent at posterior 0.5; median portion of posterior transverse carina of mesothoracic venter absent; transverse furrow at base of propodeum shallow, narrow; anterior margin of propodeum without teeth; anterior transverse carina of propodeum complete, medially weak.

Metasoma. T1–2 polished; postpetiole dorsolaterally slightly depressed; T2 densely pilose; ovipositor sheath 0.25 as long as hind tibia; dorsal valve with 9 teeth.

Color. Head: yellow, except for mandible teeth, laterally and medially at clypeus, two longitudinal stripes at supraclypeal area, supra-antennal area medially, and occiput, black. Antenna brownish; dorsally entirely whitish at f6–11, partially at f5 and f12; pedicel apex and base of f1 dark brown; flagellum at apical 0.3 ventrally gray. Mesosoma : black with the following white marks: collar laterally; lateral spot at dorsal margin of pronotum; two longitudinal stripes at mesoscutum; scutellum except near apex; subalar ridge; large oblique mark at mesopleuron; two longitudinal stripes at mesothoracic venter; upper division of metapleuron laterally; median circular mark at anterior portion of propodeum; two lateroposterior marks at posterior portion of propodeum. Wings: hyaline, very slight dark apicad. Legs: mostly orange; fore coxa dorsally brownish; all femora dorsoposteriorly black; fore and mid t1–2 yellowish, t3–5 black; hind t1–3 yellowish, t4–5 black. Metasoma: mostly orange; T1 dorsally black at posterior 0.7.

Comments. This species can be readily recognized by the presence of a median circular yellow spot at anterior portion of propodeum ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 3 – 6 ). Closest to P. flammatus , sp. nov. in having the second metasomal tergite smooth and polished. It can be isolated from this species by the mid coxa entirely orange (vs. with dorsal yellow stripe in P. flammatus ); clypeus with longitudinal black stripe (vs. entirely yellow); and scutellum yellow (vs. entirely black).

Material examined. Ƥ Holotype ( FIML): Argentina, Salta, Urundel, 31.I.1950, R. Golbach. [Digital pictures only; Figs 3–6 View FIGURES 3 – 6 ].
