This species has at least two subspecies:

I. gracilis gracilis ( Figure 1 b-d) from Sri Lanka ( Ris 1916; Fraser 1933; Dow 2013; Bedjanic et al. 2014);

I. gracilis davenporti Fraser, 1930 ( Figure 1 e ), ranging in Western Ghats ( Fraser 1933), southern Hindustan: Shembaganur, Madura, Tamil Nadu State ( Ris 1916, as I. gracilis birmanus nec Selys, 1891), and a dubious record from Punjab ( Prasad & Kumar 1977; Dow 2010).
