Description of Thioclava sediminum 6-2

Cells are Gram-staining-negative, flagellated, and rod shaped. Colonies are circular, raised, entire, and pale yellow colored after incubation for 3 days on MA at 25℃. In the API 20NE system, positive for nitrate reduction, urease activity, esculin hydrolysis, and β-galactosidase activity; but negative for indole production, glucose acidification, arginine dihydrolase, gelatin hydrolysis, and oxidase activity. Malic acid is utilized as a sole carbon source; while D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N -acetyl-D-glucosamine, D-maltose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid are not. Strain 6-2 (= NIBRBAC 000002501) was isolated from a tidal flat sample in Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, Republic of Korea.
