Type locality. Georgetown , Tasmania .

Voucher. HEC 14712 (zF), 20 September 2001, Totor (s.s. 9) .

Ecology. Only observed at a single site, but locally abundant on coral fragments on the sandy-silty reef slope, between 10 and 13 m depth.

Indian Ocean distribution. Madagascar, Mauritius ( Jadin, 1935: 169; Børgesen, 1945: 28–29, as D. pedicellata (C. Agardh) C. Agardh ), Rodrigues (this paper).

Note. Some specimens bear male stichidia in the upper part of the thallus and tetrasporic stichidia in the lower part. Cystocarpic plants were not observed.

Type locality. Cape Comorin , Tamil Nuda, India .

Vouchers. HEC 14607 (zF), 18 September 2001, western side of Cotton Bay (s.s. 13) ; HEC 14758 (zF), 24 September 2001, Grand Baie (s.s. 10) .

Ecology. Vertical walls of coral heads close to spring low water level as well as epilithic on the reef slope at 20 m depth.

Indian Ocean distribution. Aldabra Islands, Amirante Islands, Cargados Carajos, Diego Garcia Atoll, India, Kenya, Laccadives, Maldives, Mauritius

( Børgesen, 1945: 30), Nicobar Islands, Réunion ( Payri, 1985: 640), Rodrigues (this paper), Saya de Malha Bank, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Tanzania.

Note. HEC 14758 is fertile, bearing stichidia of tetrasporangia.
