Ecology. Epilithic at 12 m depth.

Note. The material is fertile, bearing tetrasporangial stichidia. Further investigation is needed, however, to compare the specimen from Rodrigues to the Australian H. australe (Sonder) Harvey and H. arachmoideum (Harvey) Harvey. Our material might actually belong to H. mirabile Zanardini , a species known from Europe (Mediterranean Sea) and the Caribbean Sea. In this respect it should be noted that both Børgesen (1954: 49) and Norris (1992: 67) reported an unnamed species from Mauritius and South Africa, respectively.

Ecology. On coral fragment on silty sand, steep slope of the tide channel, at 12 m depth.

Indian Ocean distribution. Aldabra Islands, Andaman Islands, Australia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kuwait, Pakistan, Rodrigues (this paper), Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Tanzania, Yemen.
