Type locality. Durban , South Africa .
Vouchers. HEC 14802 (zF), 25 September 2001, Grand Baie (s.s. 11) ; HEC 14850 (zF) and HEC 14851 (zF), 29 September 2001, Grand Paté (s.s. 7) .
Ecology. Mixed with turf-forming algae on coral fragments in gulleys between coral heads between 15 and 18 m depth.
Indian Ocean distribution. Australia, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius ( Børgesen, 1945: 27; 1952: 63; 1953: 55), Mozambique, Oman, Rodrigues (this paper), South Africa, Tanzania.
