Type locality. Possibly Manila Harbour, Philippines .
Vouchers. HEC 14638, 18 September 2001, western part of Cotton Bay (s.s. 13) ; HEC 14771, 25 September 2001, Grand Bassin (s.s. 2) .
Ecology. Epilithic; one collection from high intertidal rocks, exposed at low tide; the other specimens were found on submerged coral heads in the lagoon, just under low water mark.
Indian Ocean distribution. Aldabra Islands, Andaman Islands, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Kuwait, Laccadives, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mauritius ( Børgesen, 1943: 67–68, as Corallopsis opuntia J. Agardh ; 1950a: 24–26, figures 9, 10, as C. opuntia ; 1951: 41, as C. opuntia ; Jagtap 1993: table I), Mozambique, Nicobar Islands, Oman, Pakistan, Réunion ( Jadin, 1935: 164, as C. opuntia ), Rodrigues (this paper), Seychelles, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, Yemen.
