Ecology. Epilithic, as well as epiphytic on diverse larger seaweeds, mainly in intertidal pools, down to the shallow subtidal zone.

Indian Ocean distribution. Aldabra Islands, Andaman Islands, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Laccadives, Madagascar, Mauritius ( Børgesen, 1953: 27), Pakistan, Réunion ( Payri, 1985: 640), Rodrigues (this paper), Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania.
