Redescription (Fig. 22). Male. Body length 2.3–3.5mm. Arista with hairs becoming denser on basal 2/3. Setae brown. Ocellar seta minute. Presutural intra-alar seta absent. Two dorsocentral setae, with small, but welldeveloped setula close in front to anterior dorsocentral. Acrostichal seta absent. One pair of long lateral scutellar setae. Head yellow with large dark spot around base of arista (reaching base of segment as a stripe in paratypes), ocellar spot triangular, slightly larger than tubercle and extending onto dorsomedial margin of back of head, clypeus dark brown medially, and face dark brown medially with lateral margins dark yellow, becoming dark brown ventrally; gena shining; face with broad medial carina dorsally. Scutum yellow with lateral margin brown behind level of postpronotum excluding base; with narrow central stripe that is only as wide as scutellum at base and is narrowest subbasally. Scutellum brown; with several longitudinal wrinkles medially. Metanotum brown.

Pleuron light yellow with postpronotum, anepisternum, anepimeron and region surrounding base of fore coxa brown. Legs light yellow with fore tibia and tarsus brown. Wing clear. M1+2 ratio 2.6–3.5. Abdomen dark brown with epandrium darker and cerci pale.

Female. As described for male paratypes except face yellow with carina reduced, medial notal stripe slightly longer and broader, segment 7 yellowish and terminalia yellow.

Male terminalia. ( Sasakawa 2011: figs 12–14) Similar to those of S. baculigera except surstylus slightly narrower and 2/3 length of epandrium, hypandrium with additional distal seta, epiphallus developed, distiphallus slightly longer, and paraphallus shorter, bare and pointed.
