Type: — MEXICO. Talisco [Jalisco], Lay & Collie (holotype: K 000295690 digital image!)
Shrub 2m high; branches glabrous or glabrescent; internodal stem wings absent. Leaves 3-foliolate, digitate, petioles 1.5–3.4 cm long; leaflets obovate or oblanceolate, 2–2.7 × 0.9–1.6 cm, puberulous or glabrous on both surfaces; stipules 1–2 mm long, subulate. Inflorescence a raceme, 13–17 cm long, terminal or opposite to a leaf; peduncle 3.5–6 cm long. Flowers 7–20, pedicels 4–5 mm long; bracts 1–2 mm long, linear, persistent; bracteoles 1–2 mm long, linear, persistent; calyx 4–6 mm long, lobes 1.5 times longer than the tube, puberulous; corolla yellow; the standard petal 1.2–1.4 × 1.2–1.3 cm; wing petals 1.4–1.5 cm long; keel petals 1.5–1.6 cm long, twisted; ovary 4 mm long, subsessile; style geniculate. Legumes and seeds not seen.
Distribution and Ecology: — Crotalaria longirostrata is native to Mexico and Central America. In Brazil this species is only found cultivated, in Minas Gerais.
