Dasymutilla melanargyrea (André)

Mutilla (Ephuta) melanargyrea André, 1898 . Ann. Ent. Soc. Fr. 67:53. Cotype females, Mexico [MNHN] (examined).

Diagnosis of Female (Plate C6F). This species can be differentiated from others by the following combination of characters. The antennal scrobe of this species is distinctly carinate, and a genal carina is present. The mesosoma is slightly longer than broad, and lacks a scutellar scale. There are no sharp tubercles along the dorsopleural line. The body is very coarsely, reticulately sculptured. The integument is entirely black, lacking any maculae. The body is clothed with contrasting silver and black setae, with no red setae present.

Male. Unknown.

Distribution. Mexico (Oaxaca).

Remarks. This species is known only from three females, all of which have been examined.
