Ecology. Endogeic species that occurs in floodplains ( Graff 1953a), parks, botanical gardens ( Höser 1990) and recultivated mine sites ( Fründ et al. 2004).

Zoogeographical distribution type. Western European distribution: Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Northern Italy, Switzerland. Introduced into United States and Canada ( Sims & Gerard 1999).

Distribution in Germany. Central Germany ( Höser 1990); southern Germany ( Babel 1992; Ehrmann 1996; PSMS in Bavaria: www.edaphobase.org); eastern Germany ( Muskolus 2008; Bermejo Dominguez 2012); found also 2008 and 2009 in Saxony and 2014 in Berlin (S. Krück, unpublished data); western Germany ( Graff 1953a; Schulte et al. 1989; Fründ et al. 2004).
