Ecology. Endogeic species with records in forests and on grassland sites.

Zoogeographical distribution type. The distribution is not completely clear, because several authors do not differentiate between M. minuscula and M. muldali . Without differentiation, the species are reported from Great Britain, France, Spain, Italy and the United States ( Sims & Gerard 1999) and also from Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Portugal, Croatia and Greece ( Rota 2014: Fauna Europaea). According to Zicsi & Csuzdi (1999), the southern populations in Italy, Croatia and Greece belong to M. minuscula and the populations in France, Portugal, Great Britain and the United States belong to M. muldali . Csuzdi & Pavlíček (2002) recorded M. minuscula also from Israel and added Spain, Belgium, The Netherlands and western Germany to the list of countries, where M. muldali occurs.

Distribution in Germany. The distribution in Germany is not clear, because all references named here only listed M. minuscula , but do not say whether they differentiated between M. minuscula and M. muldali . Central Germany (Römbke et al. 2000); northern Germany (Römbke et al. 2000); southern Germany ( Volz 1976; Römbke et al. 2000; Beck et al. 2001; Brauckmann 2002); eastern Germany (Römbke et al. 2000), western Germany ( Graff 1953a; Römbke et al. 2000).
