Hoplandrothrips Hood View in CoL
The genus includes 106 species worldwide (Mound 2012). The range of body form is remarkable, both within and among species ( Mound & Marullo 1996). The genus is recorded for the first time in Iran by Mortazawiha and Dern (1977) on the basis of two females and two males of H. bidens (Bagnall) collected under bark of trees infested by scolytids in central Iran. A second species, H. hungaricus Priesner is recorded from Bojnourd region (Khorasan Province) on the basis of one female collected on leaves of Malus domestica ( Alavi & Kamali 2002; 2003). Two specimens from Noorabad Mamasani are not identified at the species level but those from Shiraz is H. bidens . This is the second report of the species in this country.
Material studied. Iran, 2 females, Fars Province, Noorabad Mamasani, Salix sp. ( Salicaceae ), 10.vi.1999 (Peyman Minaei); 5 females, 5 males, Shiraz, Prunus armeniaca , 24.v.2012, (KM 815).
