Idiothrips Faure View in CoL

Three species are currently listed in this genus (Mound 2012). Faure (1933) described Idiothrips for a single species, I. bellus Faure from South Africa, and subsequently two females of this species were recorded from India (Ananthakrishnan 1964), collected on Citrus leaves by J. S. Bhatti. A second species in the genus, I. ficus Bhatti , was described from India by Bhatti (1967) on the following four specimens: one female from prop roots of Ficus benghalensis (the measurements were based on this single specimen), one female from Lantana leaves, and one female with one male bearing the same data mentioned above in the report of I. bellus from India (except the date). The third species, I. maghrebinus zur Strassen, was described by zur Strassen (1968) from Morocco, based on just one female. In Iran, I. ficus has been recorded from Kerman Province by Kheyrandish Koshkoei (2000), based on specimens collected on cedar tree.
