Type: — SURINAME. Hostmann 238 (holotype BM!, isotypes K, US!).
Distribution and ecology: —Suriname, Guyana, western Brazil, Ecuador, and Peru. Rather uncommon along roadsides and in other open habitats in humid forests at 100–1800 m.
