Type material. Type material not located so far.

Distribution. United States, Virginia ( Lea, 1846)

Geological age. Tertiary ( Lea, 1846).

Remarks. Dall (1892) considered this species a synonym of Cerithium melanura C.B. Adams, 1850 , despite it had been introduced earlier.
