Gonodactylus Hansenii Pocock, 1893: 477 View in CoL , pl. 20b [type locality: Macclesfield Bank, South China Sea].

Odontodactylus brevirostris . — Manning, 1967: 27.— Moosa, 1986: 382; 2000: 408, 421 [ Philippine records, not O. brevirostris ( Miers, 1884) ].

Odontodactylus hansenii . — Ahyong, 2001: 78–79; 2002: 829, 838.

Material examined. ZRC, 1 male (TL 61 mm), Balicasag Island, P. Ng et al. from local fishermen, 25–30 Jul 2003; ZRC 2004.0613, 1 male (TL 68 mm), Balicasag Island, P. Ng et al. from local fishermen, 2 Mar 2004.

Remarks. Odontodactylus hansenii was removed from the synonymy of O. brevirostris ( Miers, 1884) by Ahyong (2001). Specimens from the Philippines reported by Moosa (1986) as O. brevirostris were reexamined at the Mus é um national d’Histoire naturelle, Paris, in 2002; all are referable to O. hansenii .

Distribution. Macclesfield Bank (South China Sea), the Philippines and Hawaii.
