– Both sexes: head higher than wide (except for females of E. podolicus , the head of which is usually as high as wide); propodeum long, its dorsal surface as long as or longer than scutellum. Male: antenna long, reaching posterior end of mesosoma; 2nd flagellomere 1.5–1.7 times as long as its diameter; metasoma elongate, cylindrical or broadened backward; gonostylus not narrowed at base. Female: T1 with posterior area finely strigate or shagreened (except for most members of E. alpigenus species-group; see below) .............................................................. 29.
