Male: S4 and S5 modified, i.e. with swellings and depressions on discs, excisions on posterior margins, and/or with brushes of long dense hairs (except E. miyabei, the sterna of which are unmodified); gonostylus large, club-shaped or rectangular .............................................25. – Both sexes: at least head and mesosoma metallic green (except for E. alpigenus species-group of subgenus Smeathhalictus , the head and mesosoma of which are black, with dark green or deep blue lustre, but then head higher than wide).
