Specimens examined. 45♂, 27♀, Jazan, Abu Aresh, Al-Mahdag Village , 5–20.vi.2011, Malaise trap, H.A. Dawah ( CERS; NMWC) ; 1♀, Jazan, Farasan Island, Aziz Yousef Village , 29.x.2014, Malaise trap, H.A. Dawah ( CERS; NMWC) ; 1♀, Asir, Maraba, Al-Hudaithy Fruit Farm , 1–17.vi.2003, Malaise trap, H.A. Dawah ( NMWC) .

Distribution. This species was recorded from Saudi Arabia by Dawah and Abdullah (2006). It was described as a variety of Oscinella sziladyi Duda from Palestine and was further recorded from Afghanistan, Bahrain, Cape Verde Island, Chad, Egypt, Iraq, Niger, Oman, Pakistan, Seychelles, Sudan and Turkey ( Sabrosky 1980; Nartshuk 2012). There are some specimens of this species in NMWC collected from Bahrain, Mali, Nigeria, Oman and Yemen. There is a single female of this species in Naturhistorisches Museum, Basel collected from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Remarks. This species is known to feed on lacrimal and sebaceous fluids at the eyes of man and is closely related to S. sziladyi . It differs from S. sziladyi by the frontal triangle, which is larger in S. aharonii and the mesonotal pubescence more dense in S. aharonii ( Beschovski 1987) .
