Type material. Holotype: female, RUSSIA, North Caucasus, Dagestan, Magaramkent district, Samur Forest , near Primorsky (coordinates 41.851208, 48.570927, - 19 m a.s.l.), 23.iv.2018, hand collection at poplar wood, litter, and under bark, sample code: CAU2018-30 View Materials R-01, Kuznetsova N., Potapov M., and Kremenitsa A. leg. GoogleMaps Paratypes (same data as Holotype) GoogleMaps : one female on a slide ( CAU2018-30 View Materials R-02) .

Diagnosis. Simplified Mc formula: 4-1-0-3-1/1-6/2-4/0-2-1/0-2(3)-2-1-2.

Description. Body length (excluding antennae) 1.85 mm (n =1, Holotype). Ground color pale violet, antennae with bluish color, dorsal head paler than the body except for the front area (blue), a transversal stripe, and postero-lateral areas behind the eyes; the tergites present pale brownish spots as shown in Fig. 3B View FIGURE 3 .

Head. Eight eyes, GH similar in size to EF ( Fig. 7A View FIGURE 7 ). Antennae length 0.86mm, 1.91 times the length of the head (n= 1); Ant IV without apical vesicle as is described for the genus, and pin chaeta bifurcate; subapical organite small as a drumstick, accompanied with a small sensillum only a little bigger ( Fig. 7B View FIGURE 7 ); sensory organ of Ant III with the special sensilla long-ovoidal, and three guards additional sensilla ( Fig. 7C View FIGURE 7 ); relative length of Ant I/II/III/ IV=1/2.50/2.00/3.10 (n=1). Prelabral and labral chaetae smooth; labral papillae very minute, so small that it is very easy to consider them absent ( Fig. 7D View FIGURE 7 ). Maxillary palp bifurcate, with three sublobal processes ( Fig. 7E View FIGURE 7 ). Lateral process of labial papilla E surpassing their papilla apex ( Fig. 7F View FIGURE 7 ). Chaetae of labial posterior row: only one M, smooth, with a small accompanying chaeta ciliated (before or after the M chaetae); R ciliated (2/3 smaller than M), with another accompanying smaller chaeta ciliated; E, L 1 and L 2 smooth ( Fig. 7G View FIGURE 7 ).

Body. Abd IV/III length ratio = 12 (n =1). Trochanteral organ with approximately 26 chaetae. Tibiotarsus not sub-segmented, with a double row of smooth chaetae on all tibiotarsi. Claw with five internal teeth: a pair at 50-60 % from the base, and apparently a second pair at 80 % (instead of the typical unpaired at this point); dorsal teeth not basal, surpassing the level of lateral ones ( Fig. 7H View FIGURE 7 ). Empodium lanceolate, with serrated external lamella (pe) in leg III. Tenent hair is clavate, similar in length to the claw. Length of manubrium and dens 0.45 and 0.50 mm, respectively (n =1). Manubrial plate with four chaetae and two pseudopores. Mucro with subapical tooth smaller than apical one, mucronal spine reaching the tip of the subapical tooth; area not crenulated of dens two times the length of mucro ( Fig. 7I View FIGURE 7 ).

Macrochaetotaxy ( Figs 7A, J–K View FIGURE 7 ). Simplified Mc formula: 4-1-0-3-1/1-6/2-4/0-2-1/0-2(3)-2-1-2. Head: H1 area with Mc An 2, An 3a1, and An 3 and an additional chaeta; H2 area with one Mc (A 5); H4 area with three Mc (S 1, S 3, and S 4i); H4’ area with three Mc (S 5, S 5i, and S 4); H5 area only with Ps 2 Mc. Mesothorax: area T1 with one Mc (m 1); T2 with six Mc (a 5, m 4, m 4i, m 4p, m 4pi, and m 4pe). Abdomen: Abd II area A1 with two Mc (a 2 and a 3), area A2 with four Mc (m 3, m 3ep, m 3e, m 3ei); ‘as’ and ‘s’ presents; Abd III without Mc on A3, two Mc on area A4 (a 2 and a 3) and one Mc on A5 (m 3), ‘s’ between m 6 and p 6, ‘ms’ interior; Abd IV without Mc on A6 area, 2–3 Mc on A7 (A 2, A 3 and B 3; A 2 absent asymmetrically in one specimen), two on A8 (A 4 and B 4), A9 with one Mc (B 5), A10 with two Mc (A 6 and B 6); sensillar formula similar to the rest of Entomobryidae : 2,2/1,2,2,12–13,3; microsensillar formula: 1,0/1,0,1.

Etymology. The name refers to Dagestan where the type locality is in.

Remarks. E. dagestanicus sp. nov. shares dorsal macrochaetotaxy of Abd II–III with E. guthriei Mills, 1931 from Hawaii; E. kalakaua Carpenter, 1904 ; E. purpurascens ( Packard, 1873) (2–3(4)/0-2-1). The new species sharply differs from them by macrochaetae formula of Th II (1-6). The macrochaetotaxy of Abd II–III has not yet been described for two Nearctic species E. dissimilis Moniez, 1894 , and E. mineola Folsom, 1924 , but these species differ by color pattern. All the described species of Entomobryoides are compared in Table 4 View TABLE 4 .
