Twentyseven species of Mesocordylus are known from Mexico through to Argentina. There are eleven species of Mesocordylus in Costa Rica and Panama. Of these eleven species, four are restricted to Costa Rica and Panama. One species is described herein as new.
Adults of Mesocordylus are most frequently collected at lights and in flight intercept traps. Occasionally, adults are found associated with fallen logs. The immature stages are unknown. Vaurie (1970, 1973) revised the genus.
