Notes:— The lectotype of Acalypha schlechtendaliana  (F.E. Leibold 238) was first described as Linostachys padifolia  , a legitimate name in Linostachys  but illegitimate in Acalypha  , being blocked by Acalypha padifolia Kunth  (in Humboldt et al. 1817: 97). Müller Argoviensis (1865) synonymized Schlechtendal’s species under Acalypha schlechtendaliana  . Martínez-Gordillo et al. (2002) reported this species from the Mexican States of Campeche, Puebla, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Tabasco and Tamaulipas. Moreover, Standley (1923) cited it in Central America, from Guatemala to Costa Rica. As they did not indicate collections from these places, we could not confirm this information.
