Type species: Pyralis dilutella Treitschke, 1832 [= Phycis cinnamomella Duponchel, 1836] subsequent designation by Hampson, 1901, in Ragonot, in Romanoff: 212 (but cited as cinnamomella Zeller, an incorrect authorship).

More citations see Bidzilya et al. Species of Ancylosis are characterized mostly by the porrect, weakly or strongly up-curved labial palpus; the narrowly elongate forewing with ground color yellow to dark yellowish-brown in general, M 2 and M 3 veins merged, stalked or separated; in the male genitalia by the sub-triangular uncus, the conical or distally hooked gnathos, the narrowly elongate valva and the slender aedeagus without cornuti; in the female genitalia by the corpus bursae, or sometimes ductus bursae full of numerous thorns with a rounded base.

Detailed morphological characters were described and discussed by Roesler (1970, 1973), Sinev (1986), Leraut (2014) and Bidzilya et al. (2019).

Host plants. Chenopodiaceae (Falkovitsh 1969a, b; Robinson et al. 2010–2019), Crassulaceae, Plantaginaceae, Plumbaginaceae, Asteraceae and Fabaceae (Glaser 1960: 157; Sinev 1986: 326; Bidzilya et al. 2019).

Distribution. Worldwide. Most species are distributed in the arid areas of the Palaearctic Region (Bidzilya et al. 2019).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/038239583353FF814592FD416F65FB10	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. It can be distinguished by the forewing with a white costal band, the postmedial line with an inward acute angle near the posterior margin, and the two black discocellular spots connected. In A. morbosella, the forewing lacks a costal band, the postmedial line has two inward angles, and the two black discocellular spots are separated. The male genitalia of A. gozmanyella are characterized by the uncus pointed at apex, the gnathos about 1/2 the length of the uncus, the triangular sacculus, and the vinculum straight on the anterior margin. Ancylosis morbosella differs in the uncus rounded at apex, the gnathos about 1/4 the length of the uncus, the sacculus banded, and the vinculum medially concave on the anterior margin. The female genitalia of A. gozmanyella can be recognized by the small triangular papillae anales twice as wide as long, and the anterior margin of the eighth tergum straight. Ancylosis morbosella differs in the triangular papillae anales with length equal to width, and the anterior margin of the eighth tergum convex.

Distribution. It can be distinguished by the more distinct broad arch-shaped antemedial line and the thin straight postmedial line of the forewing. The male genitalia of A. plumbatella are characterized by the cylindrical gnathos about 1/2 length of the uncus, the valva parallel-sided after the sacculus and the U-shaped vinculum rounded on the anterior margin. In A. gracilella, the beak-shaped gnathos is about 1/3 length of the uncus, the valva is broadened after the sacculus and the V-shaped vinculum is pointed on the anterior margin. The female genitalia of A. plumbatella are characterized by the triangular papillae anales rounded at apex, and the thin elliptical corpus bursae with numerous small cone-shaped spines. In A. gracilella, the triangular papillae anales are pointed at apex, and the corpus bursae is thin at posterior 1/3, broadened in anterior 2/3, and has larger cone-shaped spines. We have also discussed the differences between this species and A. byuni sp. nov. above.

Redescription. Adult (Fig. 10). Wingspan 17.5−23.5 mm.

Head. Vertex rounded, with pale yellow smooth scales, frons rounded. Antenna with scape pale yellow, 1.5 times as long as wide, flagellum with dorsal surface alternated with brown and white, ventral surface with cilia about equal length of diameter of flagellum in male, with white short cilia in female. Labial palpus pale yellow, stout, upturned and protruded over the head, segment II twice as long as segment III, segment III straight.

Thorax. Mesonotum, patagia, tegulae yellowish brown. Forewing elongate, 3 times as long as wide, with a widened white costal band mixed dark brown, about 1/3 width of forewing; antemedial line white, wide arched, inner side yellowish brown mixed with dark brown; postmedial line white, thin, edged with yellowish brown band on outer side, edged with dark brown line on inner side; discal cell yellowish brown mixed dark brown, two dark brown discal spots separated; terminal line dark brown; fringe pale yellow. Hindwing grayish yellow, terminal line dark brown, fringe long and pale yellow. Legs dark brown mixed with white on outer surface, white on inner surface.

Abdomen. Brown.

Male genitalia (Fig. 15). Uncus triangular, twice as long as basal wide, apex rounded. Gnathos thin and curved, about 1/2 length of uncus. Valva 4 times as long as wide, rounded at apex; with a small hamp under the costa; costa band-shaped, about 1/4 width of valva, reaching tip of costal margin of valva; sacculus banded, about 1/2 length of valva. Juxta U-shaped, length and width nearly equal. Vinculum U-shaped, 1.2 times as long as wide, anterior margin rounded. Eighth sternum with arc-shaped anterior margin thickened medially. Aedeagus tubular, widened basally, thinner distally.

Female genitalia (fig. 19). Papillae anales triangular, 1.3 times as wide as long with concave apex. Eighth tergum sub-quadrate, 1.2 times as long as wide, anterior margin convex, posterior margin straight. Apophyses anteriores and posteriores equal in length.Antrum small, funnel-shaped. Ductus bursae slender membranous, shorter than corpus bursae. Corpus bursae elliptical, thin at anterior and posterior 1/4, and anterior thin portion wrinkled, cone-shaped spines gathered at medial broader portion of corpus bursae.

Distribution: China (Ningxia). Afghanistan, Arabia.

Note. Ancylosis roscidella is similar to A. oblitella (Zeller, 1848) externally, but it is pale in color and antemedial and postmedial lines are indistinct in contrast to A. oblitella . Additional differences between these two species are discussed above. The genitalia of A. roscidella are similar to those of A. bartelella, but the male genitalia are distinguished by the uncus rounded at apex, the gnathos pointed and curved at apex, the valva 6 times as long as wide and the vinculum narrowed anteriorly; in A. bartelella, the uncus is pointed at apex, the gnathos is inflated at apex, the valva is 7 times as long as wide and the vinculum is uniformly wide. In female genitalia, the corpus bursae is longer than the ductus bursae in A. roscidella, but it is shorter than the ductus bursae in A. bartelella .

Distribution. A. umbrilimbella differs in the uncus with pointed apex, the shorter gnathos reaching 1/2 the length of the uncus, the valva narrowed after the sacculus and the vinculum equal in length and width with straight anterior margin.
