1A2A87EEFFDAFFC9F4C2FB15FCBB4020.text	1A2A87EEFFDAFFC9F4C2FB15FCBB4020.taxon	http://purl.org/dc/dcmitype/Text	http://rs.tdwg.org/ontology/voc/SPMInfoItems#GeneralDescription	text/html	en	Leptopus hispanus Rambur 1840	<div><p>So far,  Leptopus hispanus Rambur, 1840</p><p>( Heteroptera:  Leptopodidae) has been reported as present on the Canary islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria (Spain) (BAENA &amp; VÁZQUEZ, 1985; HEISS &amp; BÁEZ, 1990; AUKEMA et al., 2006, 2013; ROCA-CUSACHS et al., 2020).</p><p>Regarding the presence of  L. hispanus on the island of Gran Canaria there seem to be doubts: In the online database Banco de Datos de Biodiversidad de Canarias it is currently mentioned as “Doubtful, equivocal presence or extinction” (GOBIERNO DE CANARIAS, 2024). This should be checked.</p><p>Now, the island of La Palma can be added to the list of the distribution of  L. hispanus in the Canary archipelago: On 26-06-2024, an adult specimen (Fig. 1) was found near the camping area visitor centre in the Parque Nacional de la Caldera de Taburiente. Now, the first verifiable record of the species in the archipelago can be reported: On 24-07-2024, a macropterous adult specimen of  P. apterus (Fig. 2) was found in the village of San Andrés on the island of El Hierro.
