260E87977D61880CAA93FFACFC2A9ED7.taxon	description	Both of these species were originally described from a single individual. The L. elegans type is black and partly brownish yellow; that of L. oakleyi uniformly reddish brown. This is the main difference separating them, according to Fisher (1935). Both types were examined and compared with a series of 14 other Puerto Rican Lamproclytus specimens, in which the range of variation in color encompasses the differences cited within the original descriptions for separating the two taxa.	en	Micheli, Julio, Hovore, Frank T. 260E87977D61880CAA93F944FC809C18.taxon	description	The types of both species were examined and differ only in color. A series of 54 additional specimens from Puerto Rico, most of which were reared from the same dead tree branch (species undetermined), exhibit the reddish coloration of T. puertoricensis, the blackish coloration of T. minutus, and a spectrum of intermediate coloration. Reddish and blackish individuals (representing the two named phenotypes) were observed to copulate with one another under laboratory conditions.	en	Micheli, Julio, Hovore, Frank T. 260E87977D60880DAAA8FE2BFDAF9E73.taxon	description	Gilmour (1963) transferred Leptostylus puertoricensis Fisher to Styloleptus Dillon and erected Antilleptostylus for Leptostylus nigricans Fisher based on sculpturing of the pronotum and elytra, and the relative width of the prosternal process (3: 4), when compared to coxal cavity. Apparently, he did not examine the type specimen of L. puertoricensis, or he would have noticed its distinct similarity to the type of L. nigricans. Both species were described from unique specimens. Type-specimens of the two taxa were examined and found to have similar pronotal and elytral sculpture, including the unique elytral, post-basal, setose tubercles; the proportional width of the prosternal process is similar also. Additionally, the two types were compared with a series of 41 additional specimens from Puerto Rico within which the putative type differences are encompassed. Within this series, the relative width of the male prosternal process to the width of a procoxal cavity varies from 1: 3 to 1: 2, while in females the proportion is 1: 2 to 3: 4.	en	Micheli, Julio, Hovore, Frank T. 260E87977D60880DAAA8FCAFFCC09862.taxon	description	These two species were distinguished by Fisher (1935) by differences in elytral coloration. Typical L. antillarum has a transverse, thin, W-shaped, whitish line at the apical one-third of the elytra (Fig. 1, b), while typical L. albosignatus has a large, rectangular, whitish patch at the middle of the elytra (Fig. 1, c). Types of both species were examined and compared with a series of 34 Puerto Rican specimens. Within this material there is broad range of variation in the elytral color pattern, with some individuals being entirely plain (Fig. 1, a), some marked with a large, rectangular, whitish patch, and others with a transverse, thin, W-shaped, whitish line. Specimens within series from any given locality may exhibit the full range of variation.	en	Micheli, Julio, Hovore, Frank T. 260E87977D60880DAAA8F818FCCF9FA1.taxon	description	The figure of Lethes israeli, (32 d), in Zayas (1975) leaves no doubt that it is a synonym of one of the common color varieties of what formerly was called Styloleptus minuens Hamilton (in Leng & Hamilton, 1896: 121), now considered a synonym of S. b. biustus. This widespread Caribbean species exhibits extremely variable dorsal coloration and patterning, with the the overall dorsal pubescence ranging in coloration from light tan to cinereous, and the dark elytral maculations varying from small fasciae to large patches, often covering much of the centrobasal portion of the disk.	en	Micheli, Julio, Hovore, Frank T. 260E87977D60880EAAA8F9EEFDE69E30.taxon	description	Both of these species were described from single specimens. Describing E. brunneus, the author writes, ‘‘ This species is very closely allied to oakleyi Fisher, but it differs from that species in being much smaller and more slender, and in having the tubercles on each elytron arranged in two longitudinal rows’ ’ (Fisher 1935). The two types were examined and compared with a series of 45 Eugamandus specimens from various localities in Puerto Rico. Within this series there is considerable variation in size, and in the arrangement and size of the elytral tubercles. Larger specimens usually have stronger tubercles; smaller specimens seem more slender. No correlation between specimen size and the arrangement of tubercles could be observed, and we consider these specimens to represent a single taxon.	en	Micheli, Julio, Hovore, Frank T. 260E87977D63880EAA93F859FC509E9C.taxon	distribution	This species has not been previously reported from Puerto Rico. The senior author has collected 23 specimens of this distinctive taxon in the mountains north of Ponce. Most were taken in light traps in 1977 and 1978. No other specimens have been seen. The species, while not common, appears to be established in the Puerto Rican fauna.	en	Micheli, Julio, Hovore, Frank T.
