            <p> Pyrularia edulis (Wall.) A. DC., Prodr. 14(2): 628. 1857. (Fig. 2). Basionym:  Sphaerocarya edulis Wall., Fl. Ind. (Carey &amp; Wallich ed.) 2: 371 (-373) (1824). Type: — NEPAL, precise locality unknown, 1829, Wallich 4033 (G). </p>
            <p>Description</p>
            <p>Small trees, 3–5 m tall, deciduous; bark gray; without spines, but trunk has verruculose to lump and crack near the base, glabrous. Branches yellowish brown, wrinkled, glabrous. Leaf simple, alternate; petiole 7–10 mm; leaf blade obvoid, 5–13 × 3–5 cm; base symatric, margin entier, apex acuminate. Pinnately veined; midrib adaxially depressed; nerves 3–5 pairs, joined near the margin. Inflorescences terminal or axillary, proximal flowers in pedunculate umbels or cymes, distal flowers solitary. Flowers bisexual; actinomorphic; 5 merous. Perianth tube obvoid, green; calyx 5 lobed, equal, valvate, green. Stamens inserted opposite calyx lobes. Disk complete, 5-lobed, glabrous. Ovary inferior, 2-celled; style 1; stigma small, capitate. Fruit drupe; pear to obvoid, 4–6 cm, base narrowed into robust stipe, apex nearly truncate, slightly sunken in young fruits; apex with 5-lobed calyx persistent and disk enlarging to more than 4 mm in diam, and 5 brown stamens scars. Seed 1 (because the 1 ovule abortive in 1 cell); subglobose; endosperm oily.</p>
            <p>Ecology: —Tropical humid, semi deciduous forest on medium on the high mountain, at 1000 m above sea level.</p>
            <p>Phenology: —Flowering in March to April; fruiting in July to November.</p>
            <p>Distribution: —Eastern Asia (from northeast India and Nepal to southwest China, and Vietnam).</p>
