(Figs.1 &amp; 2)</p> <p>(G. maximowicziana Makino × G. velutina Maxim. ex Regel)</p> <p>Diagnosis:—The color of pedicel and ovary is reddish brown, puberulent. Floral bract is reddish brown at the base and pale green at the apex.</p> <p>Type:— KOREA, Jeju Island, Seogwipo-si, Donnekko valley, 600–800 m, 11 September 2014, Lee N. S. et al. G2014091118 (holotype, EWH!; isotypes, EWH!).</p> <p>Description:—Perennial terrestrial plants, (7–)10(–16) cm tall. Stem reddish brown or green; stem nodes reddish brown. Leaves green to dark green, (4–)6(–8), (2–)3(–4) cm × 1–2 cm, 1 midvein and 1–2 lateral veins, leaf margin undulated. Petiole green or reddish brown, (8–)9(–11) cm long. Inflorescence with (3–)5(–8) flowers. Peduncle reddish brown, puberulent. Floral bract yellowish green at apex and reddish brown at basal part, erect and acuminate, (0.7–)0.9(–1.2) cm, few hairs on margin. Flowers pale pink to reddish pink; dosal sepals (0.7–)0.8(–1.1) cm, little hairs on basal part; ovary reddish brown, puberulent, (0.6–)0.8(–1.1) cm. Capsules erect, puberulent.</p> <p>Etymology:—The new species is named after two parental species, G. maximowicziana and G. velutina.</p> <p>Distribution, habitat and ecology:— G. × maximo-velutina is restricted to southern part of Jeju Island, Korea. It grows under the mixed shady forest of the southern slope of Mt. Halla.
