Remarsks. Jouladeh-Roudbar et al. (2020) considered Alburnus atropatenae as a joniur synonym of Petroleuciscus ulanus . Due to the presence of taxonomic ambiguity regarding these two species, Mouludi-Saleh et al. (2022) examined the validity of them based on comparing their morphometric and meristic characters in the Mahabad-Chai River, Urmia Lake basin. Finally, based on the results, they concluded, the taxonomic identities of Petroleuciscus ulanus and Alburnus atropatenae species are valid.
