Taxonomy. Original description: Benthophilus ctenolepidus pinchuki Ragimov, 1982: 49 [Off Belyy Bugor, 37°40'N, southeastern Caspian Sea, Turkmenistan, depth 30 meters; holotype: ZISP 53569 (ex IZA)] .
