Type material. Syntype USNM 857654 (1 spm, dried but rehydrated and currently maintained in 70% ethanol); ‘paratypes’ MCZ 303631 (3 spms, dried but rehydrated and currently maintained in 70% ethanol), MCZ 362000 (1 spm), MCZ 362001 (8 spms) .

Remarks. Heath (1911) originally described this species based on examination of 51 specimens from ‘Albatross’ stations 4258 (Lynn Channel) and 4264 (Chatham Strait) without designating a type. Three individuals from station 4258 are in MCZ 303631, and one is in MCZ 362000. The individuals in MCZ 362001 and USNM 857654 are from station 4264. All three MCZ lots have labels indicating their status as paratypes, while the lot from the USNM is more properly indicated as a syntype. No slides of sclerites were located in either institution.
