Type locality. Angola Basin (8°46’S, 12°47’E), 527 m.

Type material. Holotype USNM 880690 (1 spm + 1 slide with sclerites); paratype USNM 880691 (65 spms + 3 slides with sclerites + 1 slide with radula and jaws).

Remarks. Scheltema & Ivanov (2000) originally described this species with a question mark suggesting that it was provisionally placed in the genus Prochaetoderma .
