Based on (Singer 1986; Noordeloos et al. 2001): Basidiomata lepiotoid, surface pulverulent, universal veil present. Pileus hemisphaerical, convex to plane. Lamellae free, white to cream. Stipe central, pruinose to pulverulent, with ring zone. Smell indistinct or gas-like. Taste indistinct to unpleasant. Spore deposit white to pale yellow or pale lilac. Basidiospores smooth to slightly roughened, without germ pore, hyaline, inamyloid or dextrinoid. Hymenial cystidia present or absent. Pileipellis an epithelium. Outer velar layer on pileus and stipe formed by chains of inflated globose to ellipsoid sphaerocysts. Clamps present or absent. Saprotrophic, on ground, mostly in forests.
