Before our study, Sciomyza had never been recorded from China. We determined 1 female from Menyuan County, Qinghai Province, in northwestern China, in the Palearctic Region. By use of the key in Rozkošný (1987), we determined it to be Sciomyza dryomyzina Zetterstedt, 1846 . This is the first record of Sciomyza from China.
Specimen examined. 1♀, CHINA, Qinghai, Menyuan County, 1990. VII. 21, collectors unknown (IZCAS).
