Type material. Syntypes: NHMUK 1889.10.1.749–767 [19] .

Type locality. Saint Helena .

Remarks. The presence of numerous axial ribs through the teleoconch surface does not fit in Aclis, but a precise classification in another group remains dubious. This name is a junior homonym of Aclis angulata P. Fischer in de Folin & Périer, 1869, which is currently considered a taxon inquirendum by MolluscaBase (2021b). As the species of E.A. Smith is not an Aclis, we refrain from giving a new name for this species that should be placed in another genus or even family.
